[Willmar, MN, October 23, 2026] Lake Region Bank announces a new chapter in its 116-year history with the selection of Darin Strand as its next president. Current president Clark Vollan will remain at the bank as its chairman and CEO.
In 2001, Clark took over as president when his father Paul Vollan stepped into the role of executive chairman after serving as the bank’s president since 1970. After 25 years of thoughtful and successful leadership, Clark does the same for a new generation of leadership with Darin Strand.
“Darin is local to our community, has a strong banking background, and has three generations of family ties to the bank, as the Vollans do,” explains Clark Vollan, whose daughter Haley Schrupp also works at the bank. “He’s demonstrated the leadership skills to elevate Lake Region Bank, our staff, and our communities to the next chapter.”
Darin is the third generation of Strands to work at Lake Region Bank. His grandmother worked for the bank in the 1970s, and his mother was a 20+ year employee. Darin remembers the stories his mother brought home from the bank, particularly about the amazing people she worked with.
“To my mom, the people at Lake Region Bank were more than coworkers. They were friends and second family,” Darin explains. “Lake Region Bank has been a cornerstone institution for the communities of Willmar, New London, and Sunburg for generations. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?”
Darin understands that the banking industry is in a constant state of evolution. He has built relationships at Minnesota banks since 2005 as a business banker, including community banks and national institutions. Most recently, Darin served as the business banking manager at Old National Bank in Willmar. His goal as the president of Lake Region Bank is to ensure the bank keeps up with changing financial landscape while taking care of its employees, clients, and communities.
